Belgrade Plaza car park in Coventry city centre has been closed after police secured a court order following reports of serious and ongoing antisocial behaviour. West Midlands Police said concerns had been raised over a number of months after the car park operator went into administration. Reports included drug use, suspected drug dealing, littering, trespassing and street drinking. Police said officers had increased patrols, issued warnings, carried out enforcement activity and worked with local businesses and the landowner before seeking the closure order. Coventry City Council was also in the process of closing the Ring Road slip road leading down to the car park. Police said motorists with vehicles already inside would be able to retrieve them and leave. Officers said neighbourhood patrols would continue around Belgrade Plaza and asked the public to report antisocial behaviour.
