A driver has admitted causing the death of 12-year-old Keaton Slater by dangerous driving following a fatal hit-and-run in Coventry. Dolars Aleksanders, 23, pleaded guilty at Warwick Crown Court in connection with the collision on Radford Road in June 2024. Keaton, who was 12, died after the collision. Aleksanders was extradited from Latvia in August after being detained there and returned to the UK to face proceedings. West Midlands Police said at the time that officers had worked with the Crown Prosecution Service, National Crime Agency and other agencies to bring him back to the UK. He had been charged with causing death by dangerous driving following the fatal collision. Aleksanders is due to be sentenced on 13 November 2026. Keaton’s family have continued to be supported by specially trained officers.
