A specialist police team tackling serious youth violence has reported a series of results across Coventry and Solihull during the first half of 2026. West Midlands Police's Guardian Taskforce has been carrying out targeted work aimed at reducing serious violence involving young people, including offences involving knives and other weapons. The force says the specialist team has achieved a number of positive results during the first six months of the year as officers continue operations across Coventry and neighbouring Solihull. The Guardian Taskforce focuses specifically on serious youth violence, combining enforcement activity with work aimed at identifying those believed to be involved in violence and preventing further offending. Its work has previously included weapons seizures, arrests and investigations into suspected knife-related offending across the West Midlands. The latest update comes as police continue efforts to tackle knife crime and serious violence affecting young people. C&W Today will continue to report on policing operations and serious youth violence affecting communities across Coventry and Warwickshire.
