Leamington FC have completed the signing of 21-year-old Ajay Weston, the club announced today.

Weston spent last season in the Northern Premier League Premier Division with FC United of Manchester. He initially joined the Red Rebels on loan last July until January but ended up spending the whole campaign with them and helped the side reach a Play Off place, the club said.

A Gloucestershire native, Weston came through Forest Green Rovers and Cheltenham Town before two years as a scholar at Huddersfield Town. He then spent a year as a professional at Hull City and later signed a two-year deal with Bolton Wanderers.

Comfortable on the left, Weston can operate as a traditional left-back or in a more advanced wing-back role. Manager Scott Easterlow praised his athleticism and versatility: "Ajay is left footed, naturally left sided, and is comfortable at left back or anywhere down the left really. He's got good qualities, and played 30 odd games for FC United last season and gained experience at this level. He has been training with us for a while now and we are delighted to finally get him on board to expand our options."

Leamington also extended a welcome to Weston and his family in a club statement and wished him a successful time at the club.

The signing gives Leamington another option down the left flank as they prepare for the coming season, the club added.
