Two people arrested following the death of a one-year-old girl in Atherstone have been bailed while police enquiries continue. Warwickshire Police said emergency services responded at around 11.50am on Friday 11 September to reports of a child in cardiac arrest at a home in Long Street. Despite the efforts of paramedics, she died. A 19-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man, both from Atherstone, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of child neglect. Police said the pair were later further arrested on suspicion of causing or allowing the death of a child. Both have since been bailed with conditions while detectives continue their investigation. Police said they were awaiting a post-mortem examination to help establish more about the circumstances surrounding the death.
