A large emergency-service presence has been deployed to the area, with police, firefighters and ambulance crews reported at the scene. Residents nearby have been advised to keep doors and windows closed. The major-incident declaration allows additional resources and support to be brought in as emergency crews respond. A number of serious fires have also been reported elsewhere across the West Midlands. By Thursday evening, national reporting indicated the Salford Priors blaze was considered to be under control.
